Time for tea …

We’ve recently been revisiting the joys of afternoon tea – it’s such a glamorous business,  all those delicious ‘boudoir’ sandwiches and naughty cakes. Perfect after a morning’s browsing the shops, and, we think, much more elegant and original than lunch.

At the top of our list of favourite tea venues, The Berkeley’s Prêt-à-Portea reigns supreme http://www.the-berkeley.co.uk/fashionista_tea.aspx.

If you haven’t been yet you really should. Take some girlfriends and delight in the cakes and biscuits inspired by themes and colours of particular designers all served up on stunning Paul Smith china. This year Victoria Beckham, Miu Miu and Tom Ford debuted on the tea stands. It’s a stylish venue and a great location in Knightsbridge too.

A recent discovery for afternoon tea  is The Bingham in Richmond Upon Thames http://www.thebingham.co.uk.

Refurbished a few years ago this beautiful small hotel on the banks of the Thames offers gorgeous views in a glamorous setting.  The cakes are pretty amazing too!

Joan is the perfect afternoon tea dress  and if you’ve been reading all the media coverage of the A/W collections you’ll know that vintage inspired floral gowns are de rigueur this season …
